The mission of the Milwaukee Audubon Society, Inc. (MAS) is to protect and restore Wisconsin’s natural heritage and ecology through active leadership, education, advocacy and stewardship.
Bird City Wisconsin
BIRD CITY WISCONSIN: Bird City Wisconsin (BCW) initially started as a program funded through the Milwaukee Audubon Society. A coalition on several partners including the WI Bird Conservation Initiative, WI Audubon Council, WI Society for Ornithology, and Natural Resources Foundation joined MAS to ensure that Wisconsin communities maintain healthy populations of birds and grow an appreciation of them. Bird City Wisconsin is a new community recognition program modeled after the successful nationwide program Tree City USA, a community improvement project sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation.

OUR NEWEST PROPERTY: During Wisconsin’s year of the Niagara Escarpment,
MAS acquired acreage between the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge, an important birding area, and the western extent of the Niagara Escarpment, to preserve the unique natural and cultural features on the site. Restoration and management of the property are accomplished through volunteer efforts and donor support.
